Molding Real Humans
Several faces used on my figures were cast from real people. Actual molding time takes about 45 minutes.
After the subject is prepped, a material called alginate is spread on the face to pick up the immediate expression of the face. Alginate is flexible when cured so it detaches from the face effortlessly (no eye-brow pulling). A plaster mother mold is built over the alginate mold to hold it in place while castings can be poured.
Jamie Jordan "became" Merlin at Foamhenge. His was the first death mask I'd ever taken.
