"11" Twin Tower Observance

I saw two 40 foot long metal storage containers laying side by side one warm April day in 2006. I frantically fumbled for a writing utensil (a sharpie), tore off a piece of bag and drew the twin tower idea. I immediately showed it to Mike Clements, a city council member for the City of Buena Vista, VA. He had been mowing by the side of the road. Then and there we came up with the idea of creating the "11" sculpture and planned an observance on the 9/11 fifth anniversary.
When the city approved the plan I went to work lining up engineers, cranes, Virginia Power, welders, laborers, all volunteers to create this temporary display on the highest hill in Buena Vista's Glen Maury Park.
The observance was attended by over 400 people.
One of my favorite photos of all time was destroyed in the Enchanted Castle Studios fire. I was standing in front of the real World Trade Centers giving the peace sign. I was able to recreate that photo with my replicas.
